Oxford City Council safeguards public services with TrustID

Oxford City Council, a UK local authority serving around 152,000 residents, needed a more reliable way to verify identity documents for public services, housing, licensing, and Right to Work checks. Its frontline staff had been relying on an online reference database and manual interpretation of passports, visas, and driving licences, which required extensive training and left the Council exposed to fraud risk.

To address this, Oxford City Council implemented five document scanners from TrustID to automate identity validation across its offices and departments. The TrustID solution reduced training to a simple 30-minute session, helped staff flag suspicious documents, and contributed to two police investigations; it also prevented two fraudulent housing applications and delivered at least £36,000 in savings, while processing more than 10,000 document scans in total.
