King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a London teaching hospital serving Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, was concerned about increasingly sophisticated identity fraud in its recruitment process and the risk of relying on manual document checks. TrustID provided a better way to verify passports, visas and driving licences and to support compliance with NHS employment check standards.

TrustID installed two Validation Systems / Document Scanners so HR staff could authenticate documents in seconds using light-based security checks, with training and procedural guidance to handle suspected fraud sensitively. The result was faster right-to-work checks, reduced administrative time, lower NHSLA litigation premiums, stronger reassurance for the CQC and UK Border Agency, and improved patient safety; the technology even helped expose a fraudulent applicant who was later arrested and convicted.
