A Trumpia Case Study

Longwood University used Trumpia to coordinate specific groups of volunteers during the 2016 vice-presidential debate

Longwood University, a four-year public university in Farmville, Virginia, was chosen to host the sole vice-presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle and needed a way to coordinate volunteers in real time and keep attendees and students informed during the week leading up to and on the day of the event.

Using Trumpia’s SMS platform, Longwood confirmed shifts, sent timely notifications and live-TV updates, and used Smart Targeting to reach specific groups. They recruited just over 1,000 volunteers (about one-fifth of undergraduates), identified a Spanish-speaking media-credentialed student, notified dorm residents when they could return, and scheduled network-specific messages — all contributing to a smooth, well-coordinated event with no major issues.
