Stake is a global brokerage app that gives users outside the US direct access to trade US stocks. Faced with slow, error‑prone bank transfers and expensive card interchange fees that undermined its promise of low‑cost, nimble investing, Stake looked for an open‑banking partner — TrueLayer (using its Payments API/Payments Initiations capabilities) — to enable faster, cheaper, and more secure account top‑ups.

TrueLayer’s Payments API was integrated to enable bank‑to‑bank payments with instant settlement, redirecting users to authenticate with their bank (credentials never shared) and removing card fees. As a result Stake achieved instant fund access, reduced costs due to TrueLayer’s low fixed fee model, and a 400% increase in transaction volume, improving security and the speed of customer investment decisions.
