Mitsubishi Electric cuts unplanned outages with Truefit’s AI-powered Power-I platform

Mitsubishi Electric, a global leader in electrical products and systems, sought to innovate solutions for power substation managers to monitor critical infrastructure and avoid unplanned outages. The challenge was to develop a platform that could autonomously gather and analyze data from cameras and mobile robots to detect anomalous issues. Mitsubishi partnered with vendor Truefit to address the complex aspects of this remote control and data analysis system.

Truefit implemented the Power-I platform, a React web application integrating FLIR thermal cameras and a mobile sensor platform with computer vision and AI. The solution automates image processing and data analysis to inform early warning systems, improving proactive response to equipment problems. This resulted in decreased operational expenses by reducing onsite inspections, improving employee safety, and reducing the frequency of unplanned outages. Truefit also helped Mitsubishi hire and train its first internal software team to bring the project in-house.
