Majan Electricity Company (MJEC), a utility serving about 200,000 customers in northern Oman, faced escalating distribution losses (peaking near 20%) that threatened regulatory penalties and even its license. Suspecting poor, paper-based meter reads and contractor malpractice, MJEC turned to TrueContext’s mobile forms and media-rich field data capture solution to rapidly collect accurate meter readings and replace manual processes.

Using TrueContext, MJEC field teams accompanied contractors and captured readings, photos and notes on mobile devices, which revealed ~1,800 tampered meters, ~1,300 inaccessible meters and ~400 damaged meters.
