Royal Government of Bhutan - Customer Case Study

The Royal Government of Bhutan’s Department of Information Technology & Telecom (MoIC) faced a legacy communications system that could not support large-scale participation or video, while the country’s rugged terrain made travel difficult and costly. The government needed a stable, secure, platform-agnostic video conferencing solution that could be hosted on‑premises and scale to several thousand PC users across ministries, districts and sub-districts; they selected TrueConf and its on-premises TrueConf Server.

TrueConf deployed TrueConf Server with integration for existing webcams and Polycom devices, multiple conference modes (e.g., 36×36 symmetric, 1×36 asymmetric, 6×250 role-based), and collaboration tools such as IM, file sharing and recording, plus BYOD support. The system now provides secure 4K video conferencing, is deployed across 20 Dzongkhag, 15 Drungkhag and 205 Gewog administrations with over 400 user accounts, reduced travel costs, improved internal management and communication efficiency, and maintained a flat IT budget.
