The Ministry of Technology and Communications of Laos, through its eGovernment Center, needed a secure, scalable unified communications platform during the COVID-19 lockdown to replace incompatible legacy systems hosted outside the country. Faced with national security concerns, variable bandwidth, and the need to support thousands of PC and mobile devices across ministries, provinces and districts, the ministry selected the TrueConf video conferencing system to provide an on‑premises, interoperable solution.

TrueConf deployed an SVC‑based, on‑premises video conferencing system that complied with local data safety regulations, integrated with multi‑vendor AV equipment, and ran reliably over low or unstable bandwidth and LAN/VPN links. The vendor’s solution supports 4K virtual meetings for up to 1,000 users and enabled government officials to join from smartphones and remote offices, allowing daily interagency coordination, timely pandemic response and continued remote public services — outcomes the Ministry plans to sustain post‑pandemic.
