IDEAL Industries, Inc., a global leader in wire connectors and electrical tools, needed to replace an underperforming vendor-managed inventory (VMI) program to better serve distributors, cut costs and speed order cycles. TrueCommerce Datalliance implemented its managed VMI service, hosting data, providing proactive daily reporting, training and responsive support. As a result IDEAL now manages about 20% of its business through VMI across 35 distributors and 307 locations, processes 200+ orders in four hours with nearly error-free fulfillment, and achieves measurable gains: 10–20% reduction in returns for long-term VMI participants, about 2% higher sales to VMI distributors, 20% improvement in inventory turns, 20–30% fewer stockouts, and a 50% cut in employee order‑management time—while one person manages the program versus the 3–5 typically required.
