Leatherman Tool Group, a leading manufacturer of handheld tools, faced an inflexible, costly twenty-year-old ERP and custom “homegrown” EDI environment that couldn’t adapt to evolving omni-channel retail requirements as they moved to Microsoft Dynamics AX. To replace the legacy system and eliminate expensive consulting overhead, Leatherman selected TrueCommerce and its TrueCommerce EDI solution to provide tight integration with Dynamics AX.

TrueCommerce implemented a fully embedded EDI solution inside Dynamics AX that automated ASNs from the WMS, provided graphical, no-code interfaces for business users, and enabled exception-based processing. As a result, Leatherman now exchanges documents with 60+ trading partners, has largely eliminated costly consultant interventions and chargebacks, achieved a 75% reduction in EDI spend year-over-year, and expects to recoup the EDI investment within 12–18 months.
