Kowa Pharmaceuticals America, a manufacturer of cardiometabolic therapeutics, faced new regulatory mandates from the Drug Quality and Security Act/DSCSA that required electronic traceability and a more capable EDI environment. To replace a limited, non‑integrated brokered EDI and tightly integrate with its Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP, Kowa selected TrueCommerce’s web‑based TrueCommerce EDI for Microsoft Dynamics AX to ensure compliance and streamline order management.

TrueCommerce delivered a hosted, embedded EDI solution (with the TrueCommerce Scheduler and Platinum Support) that went live March 1, 2016 and now connects about 20 authorized trading partners, including the Big Three wholesalers with roughly 100 distribution centers. The implementation moved Kowa to 100% EDI order intake, cut reporting overhead (reducing weekly end‑of‑week reports from five to two), enabled earlier invoice/ASN visibility so the company can often close the week by Friday morning, reduced manual effort that would have required more FTEs, and provided rapid issue resolution through TrueCommerce support.
