Hubbell Reduces Cost & Effort While Improving VMI Program

Hubbell, a global manufacturer of electrical and electronic products, faced high IT overhead and effort supporting a first-generation, in-house vendor-managed inventory (VMI) system that required three full-time IT staff and distracted the company from customer-facing activities. To modernize and lower the cost of its VMI program, Hubbell selected TrueCommerce Datalliance (Datalliance) and its Datalliance VMI SaaS platform.

TrueCommerce Datalliance replaced Hubbell’s on-premises VMI with a hosted SaaS solution that eliminated the need for three IT support personnel, allowed Hubbell to reallocate staff to VMI customer service roles, and delivered more sophisticated inventory-smoothing and product-mix tools. As a result, Hubbell reports increased service levels, improved inventory turns, fewer stock-outs, higher sales, and reduced transaction costs (moving toward VMI transaction costs of $1–$3 vs. $30–$55 for manual orders), demonstrating measurable cost and performance gains from the Datalliance implementation.
