A Trivantis Case Study
Micro Center, an upscale retail chain of 21 stores specializing in computers and related products, needed better training for its highly knowledgeable sales associates. Although the company had begun building eLearning, its courses were largely “page-turners” that stated facts instead of teaching decision-making; Micro Center had Lectora authoring software but initially underused its capabilities until a 2007 re-evaluation highlighted the need for more interactive, scenario-based learning.
The Training team rebuilt the Management 101 program in Lectora, developing branched simulations with context‑sensitive “Get Advice,” Expert Coaching and background resources, plus audio, video and assessments. By prototyping the logic in Lectora and turning it into reusable templates, they dramatically cut development time, eliminated the need for Flash, increased learner engagement and produced more effective, performance-oriented courses.
