A TripSpark Case Study
Texas A&M University Transportation Services operates one of the largest transit systems in Texas, with a fleet of 97 buses serving over 50,000 passengers daily. The university was challenged with running an efficient service for its large ridership with limited resources, needing to maximize its fleet without the high cost of purchasing additional buses. They partnered with vendor TripSpark to implement its fixed route software and technology solutions.
TripSpark provided a comprehensive solution including CAD-AVL, Automated Vehicle Location, Automatic Passenger Counters, and Ranger Mobile Data Terminals for all buses. This allowed for real-time tracking, dynamic shift management for drivers, and provided passengers with access to real-time data. The results were highly successful: passenger trips nearly doubled from 4.5 million to 8 million annually without expanding the fleet, customer complaints dropped dramatically, and dispatchers could focus on efficiency. TripSpark proved to be a reliable partner that helped Texas A&M succeed.
