How Streets Enabled Butte Regional Transit to Make More Efficient Schedules

Butte Regional Transit (B-Line) operates about 36 fixed-route buses across Butte County, California. The agency struggled to track buses in real time, making it difficult to answer rider inquiries, detect delays, monitor headways, and evaluate route efficiency—limiting their ability to improve schedules and service.

Implementing TripSpark’s Streets ITS with rugged Ranger in-vehicle terminals gave B-Line AVL and real-time monitoring, plus hard data on headways and stop-to-stop run times. The system also enabled text-based arrival alerts, Google Maps integration, and automated annunciators for ADA compliance, which together produced more efficient routes, better on-time performance, and more accurate passenger information.
