A Trintech Case Study
W.M. Barr, a consumer packaged goods manufacturer founded in 1946 in Memphis, faced a heavily manual finance operation: AP workflows, payments, approvals, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations were done in spreadsheets, causing errors, limited review, missing customer and payment details, and unallocated freight costs that kept rising. Frustrated with the inefficiency and risk, the company set out to automate their Office of Finance.
W.M. Barr implemented ReconNET by Trintech and Concur AP/Invoice to automate journal entries, reconciliations and AP subledger processes. They created a custom sub-ledger for daily AP activity, automated voucher extracts, payment confirmations, matching logic, and freight invoice imports to enable granular freight analysis. As a result ReconNET now handles most AP reporting, the close time dropped from four days to three, and the company identified $3 million in freight savings.
