Texas Tech University, a large public research university, was reconciling all student and organizational transactions manually within a single bank account—an effort that was cumbersome, error-prone and required significant staff time. New finance leadership opened multiple accounts and sought technology to increase efficiency, reduce manual errors and support growing transaction volumes.
TTU implemented the Banner student system and Trintech ReconNET to automate reconciliation across 30+ accounts and train staff to create new reconciliation types. Automation made staff roughly 36% more efficient, eliminated many manual errors, shortened month-end close and reliably met a two-day deposit mandate, producing estimated annual avoided costs of about $168,000 and nearly $10,000 in savings from increased self-sufficiency.
