Panera Bread Company’s finance team was reconciling some 650 cash depository, credit card and general ledger accounts using Excel. Rapid growth made the manual process unsustainable — extracting credit card transactions from Oracle required one person about three weeks a month, four staff handled cash reconciliations, and the operation lacked automated workflow, analytics and consistent controls.
Panera implemented Trintech’s ReconNET, integrating with Oracle and adapting to Panera’s credit‑card rules (with First Data support), to automate workflows, enforce top‑down controls and provide detailed reporting. The change reduced reconciliation time from weeks to days, cut monthly cash shortages, enabled the team to add 15 new feeds (AP, AR, investment, café, concentration, etc.) and supported online ordering by allowing individual card transactions to be imported and investigated in real time.
