A Trintech Case Study
Carter Bank, a state‑chartered community bank with 65 branches across Virginia and North Carolina, faced rapidly rising person‑to‑person (P2P) payments—especially Zelle®—that made manual reconciliation slow, error‑prone and unsustainable. With many moving parts and account numbers, the bank needed an automated, controlled solution to reduce risk and reclaim staff time.
Working with Trintech’s Frontier, Carter Bank implemented a purpose‑built Zelle reconciliation with a precise file interface and automated matching rules. The buildout reduced reconciliation to five files, put more than 80% of daily operations on automatic, freed several full‑time employees from manual work, and cut the Federal Reserve account from a full‑time task to a 10‑minute process. Daily reconciliations now catch errors the next day, speed month‑end close, and strengthen internal controls across core, GL and reconciliation systems.
