Western Washington University Implements Capital Program Controls with e-Builder

Western Washington University, a public university of nearly 16,000 students in Bellingham, WA, manages a $35M annual capital construction program with about 20 active projects. The program was fragmented across Excel, an Access database, paper files and personal desktops, which caused limited budget visibility, outdated data, and an inefficient, paper-based change order process that slowed approvals and reporting.

WWU implemented e-Builder Enterprise, using the Account Level Cost tool, Cost Summary tab, and about 10 automated workflows (including electronic COP and CO processes) to centralize costs and documents and show real-time budget, commitment and expenditure data. The result: automated, accurate program balances with virtually no staff time, faster re-appropriation reporting, and more than two weeks saved on change order processing through electronic bundling and approvals.
