Vitirover and Trimble combine to Develop the Vitirover Autonomous Industrial Robotic Mower for Managing Vegetation on Large Surfaces

Vitirover, founded in Saint-Émilion in 2010, builds rugged, high‑precision robotic mowers to manage vegetation on large, obstacle‑dense surfaces—vineyards, photovoltaic farms, railways and highways. The company needed to overcome the limits of wired, plug‑in mowers and reduce reliance on herbicides like glyphosate by creating a fully autonomous, reliable system able to navigate thousands of obstacles per hectare and work across slopes with centimeter‑level accuracy.

Vitirover paired powerful solar panels with Trimble MB‑Two dual‑frequency GNSS receivers (RTK/PPP) and dual antennas to achieve about 5 cm positioning, plus cloud‑based fleet management through a “shepherd” subscription model. One operator can monitor up to 50 robots in real time—tracking energy, motors, batteries and jobs—while robots autonomously plan routes, recharge, and operate in multiple modes; the solution has enabled scalable, secure, chemical‑free vegetation control across vineyards, PV fields, rail corridors and other industrial sites.
