Trinity Construction & Design Accelerates Layout and Ensures Accuracy with Trimble Ri Robotic Total Station

Trinity Construction & Design, a Sarasota-based custom home builder founded in 2010, combines hands-on craftsmanship with BIM workflows using Trimble SketchUp to vet every house before construction. Faced with time-consuming, error-prone manual layout (3–4 days per project) and unreliable subcontractor setouts, the company needed a faster, more accurate way to transfer design reference points from model to site while keeping layout work in-house.

Trinity adopted the Trimble Ri robotic total station with Trimble FieldLink, exporting SketchUp models for direct stakeout and remote one-person operation. The Ri’s extended range, improved tracking and self-calibration plus FieldLink’s documentation and offset tools cut layout time to a single day, reduced errors and rework, improved QA/QC and subcontractor coordination, increased profitability, and strengthened Trinity’s market differentiation with architects and clients.
