A Trimble Case Study
Gayatri Projects Ltd., a leading Indian infrastructure and construction company, was contracted to widen 163 km of NH215 in Odisha but faced significant delays from land acquisition, forest diversion and environmental clearances. The project required precise, repeated grading of multiple pavement layers, and traditional staking and manual grade checks were time-consuming, fuel-intensive and caused rework that threatened schedules and costs.
Working with SITECH/Trimble, Gayatri fitted a motor grader with the Cat AccuGrade 2D Cross Slope grade control system, allowing machine-mounted sensors to control blade position after a single initial survey pass. The system delivered a 42% productivity gain (36% fewer passes, 44% less machine run time), cut fuel use by 47%, met grade tolerances (+/-20–25 mm) with fewer passes, reduced manpower and rework, and produced smoother, longer-life pavement with lower ongoing maintenance.
