Trimble Technology Helps French Contractor Improve Productivity Throughout the A719 Roadway Build

APRR (part of the Eiffage Group) and contractor Forezienne d'Entreprises led a €100M expansion of the A719—a 14 km motorway link—covering 135 hectares and requiring excavation, subgrades, utilities and multiple civil works. Facing tight timelines and the need for precise grading and greater productivity during large-scale earthworks, the team sought technology to reduce rework, save material and speed up survey and machine workflows.

Forezienne deployed Trimble solutions—Trimble Business Center - HCE, Trimble GCS900 grade control on six machines, and Site Positioning Systems with SCS900 and SPS930—to automate on- and off-machine workflows. The result: the project was completed in two years (including 16 civil works, 10 retention ponds and a toll plaza), 1.5 million m3 of earth moved, daily placement of 8,500 m3 of capping with nearly 100% of inspection points within tolerance after a 1 cm screed, reduced rework and material waste, faster operations and improved job-site safety.
