A Trimble Case Study
Bilfinger Berger Construction S.A. was tasked with paving an 11 km section of the S-2 express road in Warsaw to relieve city congestion and connect key transport nodes. The challenge was to speed up paving while precisely achieving target cross slope and surface elevation across long runs, eliminating time-consuming manual string/line setups and ensuring a smooth, specification-compliant surface.
The contractor deployed the Trimble PCS900 Paving Control System and Trimble Business Center - HCE, using SPS930 total stations, MT900 active targets and a CB460 machine display driven by a 3D design model. With active-prism tracking at 20 Hz and three total stations for continuous control and monitoring, the solution delivered 3–6 mm screed accuracy, eliminated manual layout, accelerated paving operations, improved rideability and met required technical specifications, supported locally by Trimtech Ltd.
