Trimble Helps Mortenson/Scull Streamline Workflows and Improve Quality Assurance

Mortenson, a leading U.S. sports and entertainment builder, partnered with Scull Construction on The Monument arena in Rapid City. The team struggled with slow, error-prone field measurement workflows that required surveyors to capture scans, return to the office for processing and only then discover missing or unusable data—delaying QA and risking rework and unsafe field procedures.

Mortenson/Scull adopted the Trimble X7 3D laser scanner with Trimble FieldLink, enabling in-field registration and real-time overlay of photo-colorized point clouds on coordination models. This streamlined QA—allowing pre-pour scans with ~99% confidence, reducing rework and office processing time, improving safety by minimizing elevated work, and quickly offsetting the equipment cost—while opening plans to expand scanning use across trades and inspections.
