Trimble Grade Control Improved Efficiency and Quality at China's HuNan LiCha Highway Project

HuNan LiCha Highway Development Company was building a 105‑kilometer, four‑lane highway in China, moving 20.83 million cubic meters of earth, but relied on time‑consuming manual staking for excavation and grading. Frequent stake errors, repeated rework and delays threatened a tight schedule and lowered accuracy and reliability across the project.

Working with SITECH South China, the team deployed the Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System with a Universal Total Station on a motor grader, bringing 3D design, automatic blade control and real‑time position feedback into the cab. The result: finish grading that once took about 12 days is now done in hours, an estimated 60% efficiency improvement, fewer surveyors and less rework, lower material and labor costs, and higher overall quality with easy transferability to other machines.
