A Trimble Case Study
Eurovia’s Yutz agency, part of the Vinci Group, was contracted to build roads, utilities and a six-hectare landscaped section of the 19‑hectare Aéroparc in Yutz, France — including a 5‑m panoramic viewpoint and a complex “Garden of Sounds” spiral mound. The work demanded extremely precise surface modeling and tight schedules and budgets; initial designs implied large earthmoving volumes and risked costly delays and rework without highly accurate grade control.
Eurovia created 3D models and deployed Trimble 3D machine control (GCS900 with CB460, SPS730 total stations and GNSS) with SITECH training, using a dozer and grader to shape the site and reuse excavated material. The system delivered millimeter‑level finish, cut survey time and labor, and enabled reactive design updates; results included an estimated 50% productivity gain, reshaping 40,000 m3 in about a month, reducing the viewpoint material need from 60,000 m3 to 20,000 m3, faster pathway grading (1 km in 1.5 days vs. 3–4), lower costs and improved safety.
