Transportation District Uses Prolog® Software to Achieve Immediate Cost Control, Time-Saving Document Management and Visibility into Potential Problems

Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) is the public transit provider for the Portland metro area, operating light rail, buses and paratransit services. Preparing for large, federally funded capital projects — including a $350M Interstate MAX and later $125M and $557M rail projects — TriMet struggled with fragmented project-management tools and could not reliably track funding splits, budget commitments, contracts or documents across disparate systems.

TriMet standardized on Meridian Systems’ Prolog Manager, built internal training, customized the system to mirror familiar work breakdowns and mandated its use for contracts, costs and document control. The integrated solution gave 75 users unified document management, timely tracking of change orders and “pressures,” immediate cost control, faster document retrieval (reducing litigation risk) and consistent project visibility across major capital programs.
