The largest Publicly-Traded Real Estate Firm in the U.S. Uses Proliance® Software to Standardize Workflow, Centralize Data and Cut Construction Cost

Simon Property Group, the largest publicly traded U.S. real estate company with hundreds of shopping, outlet and mixed-use properties, struggled with a paper-based, people-dependent construction workflow after rapid growth and acquisitions. Manual routing of documents, inconsistent processes, and limited visibility into contracts, change orders and invoices made cost control and timely approvals difficult across its large, dispersed project teams.

Simon implemented Meridian Systems’ Proliance software—using Excel-based SmartDocs to minimize training and integrating Proliance with JD Edwards for two-way financial data exchange—to automate approvals, centralize real-time project data and standardize cost accounting. Within 11 months the system supported 60 users on 70+ projects, delivering faster electronic approvals, reduced duplicate data entry, clearer budget vs. cost visibility through the Anticipated Cost Report, and improved ability to anticipate and control construction costs while enabling mobile access for remote staff.
