A Trimble Case Study
The Corradino Group, a national engineering firm with deep transportation and CEI experience, was hired to provide FDOT oversight on the state’s first public-private partnership (I-595). Faced with massive document volume, audit requirements and the need to statistically validate the Concessionaire’s QC/QA, traditional spreadsheets and paper files proved inadequate for tracking RFIs, submittals and inspections across a complex, multi-stakeholder corridor project.
Corradino implemented Meridian’s Prolog platform (deployed by Intuitive Systems and integrated with web/mobile tools) with custom fields, checklists and automated notifications to centralize documents, audits and collaboration. The system enabled online RFI responses, randomized audit scoring, and broad team access (about 50 FDOT/design users), cutting document-control staffing from three people to one (projected FDOT savings ~ $350K over five years) and eliminating roughly $65K in shipping costs, while accelerating reviews and improving oversight transparency.
