A Trimble Case Study
The City of Arlington, Texas — a metro community of about 370,000 with a roughly $50 million annual construction budget and some 200 active projects — struggled with an outdated mainframe, siloed department processes, and a lack of integration with its Lawson financial system. Manual data re-entry, limited visibility into multiple funding sources, and slow, paper-based approvals made reporting and budget oversight time-consuming and error-prone.
Arlington implemented e-Builder enterprise-wide, migrating 600 projects and integrating the system with Lawson and the city’s GIS to provide real-time budget, schedule and location data. The solution standardized workflows across Public Works, Water Utilities and Parks & Recreation, enabled electronic approvals and digital inspections, and streamlined reporting—resulting in faster, more accurate project snapshots, improved funding visibility and stakeholder transparency, reduced administrative effort, and growing adoption (currently 160 internal licenses).
