The Christman Company, a 120-year-old commercial construction and development firm that recently acquired Rentenbach Constructors to expand to eight regional offices, faced a need to decentralize its estimating capabilities. Rapid geographic growth and a centralized, cumbersome estimating process made it difficult to leverage local teams while maintaining uniform reporting, accuracy and timely responses to clients.

After an RFP, Christman implemented Trimble’s WinEst with Modelogix for cloud-based, spreadsheet-like estimating, historical cost benchmarking and simultaneous multi-office collaboration. The customizable, easy-to-train system is being rolled out company-wide and has already demonstrated major gains—estimating models that once took 1.5 days can be built in about 1.5 hours—delivering faster, more consistent estimates and more predictable capital planning.
