A Trimble Case Study
Sunesis Construction was hired to perform site improvements on the 19‑acre, post‑demolition Cincinnati Gardens site in Ohio, which required moving more than 30,000 cubic yards of fill and stormwater work for a future light‑manufacturing redevelopment. The team faced a key challenge: accurately estimating soil quantities from an unmeasured stockpile and an irregular, cut‑up building footprint—traditional GPS rover workflows were slow and risked under‑ or over‑bidding.
Sunesis partnered with SITECH Ohio, flew the site with two DJI Phantom 4 RTK drones, and processed the data in Trimble Stratus and Trimble Business Center to build a 3D model and compute quantities within hours. The approach produced accurate, verifiable bids and final quantities, sped up surveying, and has been adopted for upcoming public‑works and dam projects, with improved visualization and analytics making drone surveys fast, precise, and repeatable.
