Jo-Carroll Energy, a rural electric cooperative serving more than 26,000 customers in northwestern Illinois, needed to move off an older system and improve field access, reduce administrative overhead, and better integrate call and meter data to support a smarter grid and faster outage response. They were an early adopter of Trimble Energy North America’s Trimble NIS and Trimble DMS to address those operational challenges.

Deploying Trimble NIS and DMS gave Jo-Carroll easy-to-use field views, simpler administration, and IVR integration for better call-center handling, while DMS provided flexible network modeling, asset editing and straightforward AMR integration that automatically created trouble tickets for faster dispatch. Upgrades were fast with minimal downtime (1.5 hours for DMS and four hours for remaining NIS components), delivering immediate operational improvements and greater confidence in ongoing system management.
