Streamlining Pavement Project Reviews Through Visualization Using AgileAssets® Pavement Analyst™

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), which manages one of the largest state-owned road networks in the U.S., needed a way to visualize relationships among recommended, programmed, under-construction, and as-built pavement projects within its Pavement Management System (PaveM). Working with the University of California Pavement Research Center, Caltrans faced challenges including managing external development, processing very large pavement datasets, and integrating a new tool with existing PMS workflows.

Caltrans integrated AgileAssets® Pavement Analyst™ with an automated visualization tool called H-Chart, configuring both systems to deliver and map large volumes of pavement data efficiently. The result: faster, more accurate project reviews that let engineers spot gaps, overlaps, and appropriate treatments, prioritize candidates, reduce staff review time, support field and office use, and earn recognition as an AXIAM award nominee.
