A Trimble Case Study
Taylors Development Strategists was engaged to survey an 84 km pipeline corridor in semi-rural Victoria for a new desalination plant, where precise control was critical to determine the optimum 20 m easement alignment. The project faced variable satellite/CORS coverage, difficult terrain and the need for high positional accuracy to support construction and co-located powerline routing.
Taylors used a multi-method Trimble-based workflow: static GPS with post-processing in Trimble Geomatics Office to establish 12 primary control marks, then GPSnet RTN/RTK via Trimble R8 rovers and TSC2 controllers to densify control with ~25 additional marks, supplementing gaps with a local R8 base station and Trimble S6 total stations. The interoperable hardware and software streamlined field handovers and data management, completing the topographic survey in about three months and delivering a reliable, cm-level control network for final pipeline alignment.
