Standardizing on Prolog® Software Helps The Weitz Company Control Costs, Reduce Risk and Increase Profit

The Weitz Company, founded in 1855 and one of the largest U.S. construction firms with about 2,000 employees and nearly $1.5B in revenues, needed a better way to manage projects as it grew. Its in-house change-order system (COLT) could not keep up with geographically dispersed operations, creating cost, revenue and risk visibility problems that threatened profitability and project control.

Weitz standardized on Prolog Manager (and Prolog WebSite) to centralize project data, integrate with JD Edwards ERP, and give real-time change-order tracking across 760 users. The result was eliminated duplicate data entry, consistent documents and reports company-wide, improved trend analysis to reduce recurring issues, better owner communication and tighter cost/revenue control—helping Weitz reduce risk, lower costs and increase profitability while scaling its nationwide operations.
