A Trimble Case Study
Southaven’s Utilities Division in Mississippi faced the challenge of modernizing records for a rapidly growing city—population rising from 29,000 to 49,000—by creating a comprehensive GIS database of its water distribution and sanitary sewer systems, including nearly 25,000 valves, meters and manholes.
Working with local firm Civil-Link, the city used Trimble R10/R6 GNSS receivers and the Trimble GeoXH 6000 with TerraSync to collect precise asset locations and attributes and deploy a smartphone-accessible GIS. The solution lets crews navigate to assets within inches, speeds maintenance and repairs, reduces time and cost, and enables accurate data sharing across departments for improved efficiency and customer service.
