A Trimble Case Study
M. Hanna Construction, a Texas contractor working the 82-acre Grant Meadows subdivision near Houston, faced extremely challenging soils—hard topsoil over a three- to five-foot “black gumbo”—flat terrain with slopes under 1%, heavy dust and frequent deluges. Those conditions made accurate grading, drainage and equipment mobility difficult and threatened costly rework on subtle grades and complex stormwater features.
They installed the Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System on two Caterpillar D6N LGP dozers, giving operators GPS-guided, one-pass accuracy for minute slopes and intricate catch basins while keeping sites draining after storms. The system was easy to install and learn, eliminated many redos, and produced a documented 28–33% increase in productivity, enabling the firm to take on more complex projects.
