A Trimble Case Study
R.B. Jergens Contractors, a mid‑size, family‑owned environmental and heavy civil contractor in Vandalia, Ohio, needed ways to boost productivity, accuracy and safety so it could win and execute increasingly complex public‑works and large earthwork projects. The company, already an early adopter of GPS and machine control, partnered with SITECH/Trimble to find solutions that would streamline grading, reduce surveying effort and improve on‑site safety.
R.B. Jergens deployed the Trimble GCS900 and the new Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform (including automatics) across multiple machines and excavators. The systems let operators reach grade faster and more consistently—eliminating frequent staking, reducing surveyor exposure, and saving about 40 hours on one complex job—while delivering 50–100% productivity improvements on some tasks, better resource allocation and the ability to take on more complicated projects.
