A Trimble Case Study
Scotty’s Contracting and Stone, a Bowling Green, Kentucky paving and grading firm, was hired by the National Corvette Museum to build complex, reconfigurable Le Mans–style racetracks with frequent elevation changes and ongoing design revisions. Faced with a tight schedule and the need for exceptionally smooth, consistent surfaces across multiple track configurations, traditional staking and manual methods were impractical.
Scotty’s deployed Trimble Business Center - HCE, PCS900 3D paving, and GCS900 grade control across its fleet, used wireless model updates, two pavers in echelon with material transfer vehicles, and a specially formulated 82-22 asphalt mix. The result: a 25% productivity increase, completion 20 days early, $150k–$200k saved in staking, precise material control (<0.5% tonnage variance), and an exceptionally smooth, consistent racetrack surface.
