SB Mechanical (Smith-Boughan, Inc.), a 90‑year‑old Ohio mechanical, plumbing and HVAC contractor, faced a complex BIM challenge on a major 60,000+ sq ft hospital expansion. Their previous AutoCAD‑based workflow lacked manufacturer‑specific content, causing field interpretation, delays and material waste as project complexity and coordination demands increased.

By adopting Autodesk Revit with Trimble SysQue, SB Mechanical produced data‑rich, constructible MEP models with manufacturer parts, automated spool sheets, BOMs and dynamic schedules—streamlining takeoffs and fabrication exports.
