Robotic Technology Proves Integral to MEP Firm’s BIM-to-Field Goals

Trans Gulf Electromechanical, the MEP arm of Al Naboodah Construction Group, was contracted to deliver MEP systems for a large mixed‑use development in Bur Dubai and needed to improve how BIM design data was transferred to the jobsite. The company faced time‑consuming, labor‑intensive manual layout work—about 7,000 points per car‑park level and many bracket and opening locations—so it sought a faster, more accurate BIM‑to‑field workflow.

They implemented a Trimble Robotic Total Station with Trimble Field Link and ran a side‑by‑side trial: the manual crew marked 156 points in ~48 hours, while the Trimble team marked 210 points in four hours. The solution is now used daily, delivering major productivity gains, improved accuracy and QA/QC, reduced human error, streamlined layout workflows and plans to be rolled out across future projects.
