RMA Engineering - Customer Case Study

RMA Engineering LLC, a Kansas-based firm that designs and stakes rural electric lines for cooperatives, faced the challenge of delivering fast, accurate pole placement and relative elevation checks across vast, remote landscapes. Achieving perfectly straight, structurally sound pole rows was critical for system stability, but traditional surveying methods were slow, required multiple crew members and complex base-station setups.

Using Trimble CenterPoint RTX with Trimble Access, an R2 GNSS receiver and TSC3/TSC7 controllers, crews can design and stake lines in the field with precise real-time positioning and quick initialization—no base station needed. The solution cut crew size and logistics, enabled single-person staking, and boosted productivity (often 12–15 miles per day), lowering costs while improving accuracy and quality control.
