Riyadh Metro 'On-Track' Through Connected Construction

AIC was responsible for the steel structures of Riyadh Metro’s Western Station, a highly complex part of the six-line project, and needed to coordinate design, detailing, fabrication, and erection across challenging dune-like roof structures. The team faced the usual problems of a large, multi-stakeholder build: clashes, manual coordination issues, and the difficulty of translating intricate 3D designs into accurate shop and field work, using Trimble Tekla Structures and related tools.

Trimble helped AIC streamline the workflow by combining Tekla Structures with Trimble Robotic Total Stations and Trimble FieldLink, enabling direct use of model data for layout and fabrication. The result was faster, more accurate field layouts, no site fit-up issues, and improved handover; AIC also reported a 200% better performance than traditional workflows and a 30% productivity gain in assembly jobs, leading them to mandate Trimble RTS on the factory floor.
