Price Electric Accelerates University Center with Fast Spooling & Prefab

Price Electric, a commercial electrical contractor in Eastern Iowa, was hired to finish a delayed, $multi‑million, 65,000‑sq‑ft university engineering center addition where unexpected mechanical, electrical and plumbing clashes threatened a tight three‑month schedule. The most challenging run was a 300‑ft corridor requiring six 4‑inch raceways with more than 1,000 degrees of bend that had to be coordinated around existing plumbing, sprinklers and HVAC in a congested space.

Using 3D design and as‑built capture—Revit, Faro Scan, Southwire SIMpull—and Trimble SysQue for LOD 400 modeling, Price Electric prefabricated and spooled the raceways in a controlled facility, delivering palletized components with detailed install sheets. The approach eliminated field scrap, reduced staging and labor needs, avoided on‑site clashes, and accelerated installation—helping bring the project back on schedule while improving safety and quality.
