Powering a Winter Automated Reporting System with AgileAssets® Maintenance Manager™

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) needed to modernize winter snowplow operations across roughly 12,000 lane miles to improve data quality, reduce operator input, enhance management tools, and cut costs. Building a Winter Automated Reporting System (WARS) required ITD to manage internal development, coordinate multiple vendors, integrate with existing hardware and software, and train staff across statewide districts.

ITD implemented WARS using a customized interface with AgileAssets Maintenance Manager to capture AVL and plow/spreader data (via Certified Cirus SpreadSmartRx), generate detailed activity and route records, and automatically create work orders and labor records. The system delivered about 10% materials savings (~$600,000/year), saved roughly 7,500 operator labor hours annually, reduced equipment costs, improved safety and mobility, and earned an Honorable Mention in the AgileAssets AXIAM awards.
