Plainfield Area Regional Sewerage Authority - Customer Case Study

Plainfield Area Regional Sewerage Authority (PARSA) in Middlesex, New Jersey, needed to move its wastewater collection system from reactive problem-solving to proactive management. After years of issues including sanitary sewer overflows, pipe collapses, moratoriums, and aging infrastructure, PARSA sought better situational awareness and remote monitoring tools from Trimble, including the Telog Ru-35 and Trimble Unity Remote Monitoring software.

Trimble helped PARSA standardize flow monitoring across multiple meter technologies with the Telog Ru-35 platform, enabling real-time data, alarms, and easier field maintenance. The upgrade improved usability and reliability, replaced aging 3G units, and supported more accessible battery and sensor connections. Since implementation, PARSA has achieved a 330 million-gallon annual flow reduction, eliminated SSOs, avoided regulatory action, and completed 23 capital projects totaling $9 million.
