Paving in Russia with Trimble PCS900

Sibavtoban, the contractor paving the new Bugrinskiy bridge in Novosibirsk, needed to meet much stricter road-quality standards and finish work quickly on a high-profile, traffic-relieving project. Traditional string-levelling was slow, error-prone and labor-intensive, and the company faced tighter tolerances (now ±5 mm) along with pressure to avoid rework and keep the schedule.

Sibavtoban upgraded a paver with the Trimble PCS900 Paving Control System supplied and supported by SITECH Siberia, using a robotic total station and 3D design model to steer and level the screed automatically. After training, the team achieved 2–5 mm accuracy, significantly faster production (tests show 40–70% faster, with some jobs 2–3× quicker), easier quality checks, on-time paving, and material savings estimated at 2–4% of total cost.
